چکیده

Zirconia (ZrO 2 ), known as a kind of bioceramics widely applied in prosthodontics, is considered as a promising alternative to conventional bioceramics owing to its desirable mechanical strength, toughness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, biocompatibility etc. However, the development of zirconia is hindered due to its instability in long-term clinical observations such as the cracking (chipping) of veneering porcelain and deterioration of mechanical properties of zirconia dental crowns under intraoral condition. The aim of this study is to review the development and actuality of ZrO 2 in prosthodontics. In addition, stability problems in commercial zirconia crowns are discussed in detail and the potential solution has been proposed. dacWTa aTcWTPdcWabn]VX]VfaZbP]S TabTRcXeTWPbP[b QTT] dcUafPaS

Zirconia as a Dental Biomaterial

Ceramics are very important in the science of dental biomaterials. Among all dental ceramics, zirconia is in evidence as a dental biomaterial and it is the material of choice in contemporary restorative dentistry. Zirconia has been applied as structural material for dental bridges, crowns, inserts, and implants, mostly because of its biocompatibility, high fracture toughness, and radiopacity. H...

Less Light Transmitted Through Zirconia Copings Translucency of Zirconia Copings Made With Different

Background: There is increased use of all-ceramic crowns in place of ceramo-metal crowns in restorative practices. The difference in properties of different ceramics will affect the final esthetics of the restoration, and we need to consider this, especially when restoring anterior teeth. This article compares and analyzes translucency levels of different zirconia-based ceramic CAD/CAM systems....

Application of Zirconia in Dentistry: Biological, Mechanical and Optical Considerations

With the aim of replacing the infrastructure of metallic dental prostheses, structural ceramics have been improved and have become increasingly more popular in dentistry. Among the dental ceramics, zirconia has emerged as a versatile and promising material because of its biological, mechanical and optical properties, which has certainly accelerated its routine use in CAD/CAM technology for diff...

Fracture of porcelain-veneered gold-alloy and zirconia molar crowns using a modified test set-up

Objective: The main aim of this study was to compare fracture load and fracture mode of yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) and metal-ceramic (MC) molar crowns using a modified test set-up to produce fractures similar to those seen in vivo, i.e. fractures of the veneering material rather than complete fractures. Materials and methods: 13 high-noble-alloy MC and 13 Y-TZP mo...
